Inserting a Chart Slide

PowerPoint offers three AutoLayouts that include charts (Figure 4.4). An example of a slide that combines a bulleted list with a chart is shown in Figure 4.5.

To insert a chart slide:

1.
Click the New Slide button on the toolbar.

2.
In the New Slide dialog box, choose one of the chart layouts (Figure 4.4).

3.
Click OK.

The slide appears with title, chart, and perhaps text placeholders (Figure 4.6).

Click the title placeholder and type the title of your chart.

5.
If the slide has a text placeholder, click it and type the text.

6.
Double-click the chart placeholder to create your chart.

Tip

In the text placeholder of a Text & Chart or Chart & Text layout, you can provide details about the chart, such as an interpretation of the data or a conclusion that can be drawn from the data.
