Chapter 4. Inserting Charts > Revising a Chart

Revising a Chart

To revise a previously-created chart, you need to reopen it in Microsoft Graph.

To revise a chart:

1.
Double-click the embedded chart (Figure 4.27).

2.
If you need to update the data and the datasheet is not currently displayed, click the View Datasheet button.

If you want to change only the formatting, go to step 5.

3.
To replace the contents of a cell, click the cell and type the new value. The chart instantly reflects the change to the datasheet.

4.
To edit the contents of a cell, double-click the cell. A text cursor appears. Position the cursor where you want to make the change, and then insert or delete characters. Press Enter or Return when you are finished.

5.
Make any desired formatting changes to the chart (insert titles, insert data labels, change the chart type, and so forth).

6.
To return to PowerPoint:

  • Click the slide outside of the chart (Windows).

    or

  • Choose File > Quit & Return (Mac OS).

Tip

Windows only: Figure 4.28 gives you some clues if you're unsure whether you're in Microsoft Graph or PowerPoint. You can also display the Help menu—the bottom menu choice will be either About Microsoft Graph or About Microsoft PowerPoint.
