Chapter 4. Searching the Web > Searching Pages

Searching Pages

The preceding section told you how to search for the right web page, but what do you do if you found the right page but need to skim for the phrase in question? Time to press Ctrl+F to find something. (You can also select Edit | Find, but it’s not worth the effort—just about everyone presses Ctrl+F.)

FRIDGE

Instead of Ctrl+F, you can just press “/” to display the Find bar. This is faster, but there’s a catch: the Find bar disappears after about 5 seconds of inactivity. I usually prefer the Find bar to stay there until I’m done with it—at which time I press Esc-but you may prefer the automatic cleanup of your browser screen.
