Opening Links in New Tabs

You can speed up the whole new tab process by opening links in a new tab on-the-fly. Suppose you’re trying to find the perfect place to buy tea in Seattle (harder to find in a city where they buy more than twice as much coffee per capita as any other U.S. city). You might start by searching on Google for “tea Seattle.” When you get the page of links, open a link by doing any of the following:

  • Right-clicking the link and selecting Open Link in New Tab from the context menu

  • Middle-clicking the link (if you’ve got a three-button mouse or a mouse with a scroll wheel)

  • Holding down Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and clicking the link
