RESPONSIBLE NETIZENS PRACTICE RESPONSIBLE NETIZENSHIP

E-mmunity Netizens, or Internet citizens, come together for a purpose. They most often “connect” to communicate to further actions that get results. Sometimes, they connect to be sociable and build relationships. Regardless of their reasons for connecting, responsible Netizens follow accepted guidelines and practices about how to communicate. By ignoring basic guidelines, people may actually “disconnect.” Miscommunications via e-mail can and do exist, and they can be costly. They can cost time, money, even reputations.

“…I speak here of ‘response-ability’—that is, the ability to observe ourselves and others in interaction and to respond to a familiar situation in a new and different way.”

—Lerner, 1985
