Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments

Since we began writing E-mail: Communicate Effectively, we have a whole new relationship with the Acknowledgments section of a book. We now intimately know the process of birthing a book and turning it over to others to help nurture it into its fullness. Our team helped us transform research, ideas, and experience into a book that makes a greater contribution to our electronic communities' collective conversations. The power of collaboration is magical.

We are blessed to have many gifted, skilled, and generous friends and associates in our lives who were willing to give us sensitive and insightful feedback.

We would like to thank several of our customers in Columbus, Ohio who helped us pilot and refine our content: Sue Wilburn and Brian Ritchie of Children's Hospital, Michele Barregarye of Employers Resource Association, Gerald Mosko and Rita Gallagher of Banner Stamping Company, Carter Young and Julie Willis of OASIS Corporation, Patricia Dove and Chris Pritchard of Cardinal Health, and Mary-Wood Andersen at Worthington Industries.

We would also like to thank Roger W. Smeltzer, Sr., of Gulfstream Aerospace, Dallas, TX for his executive and customer service perspectives on electronic communication. Also in Columbus, Bill Houston at WorldCom contributed his unique wisdom about efficiency and organization in all aspects of work. Karen Houser of Leader Technologies generously contributed her journalistic, management, and hospitality experience to enrich our writings. We also want to express deep appreciation to Irene Ward who is passionate about honoring all people and is excited about the Internet to help connect people who might otherwise be excluded.

We are also grateful for the tireless contributions of our fellow board and forum members of the Central Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development; Mallard Owen of eBrite, Ltd.; Sheri Bidwell of Connections for Learning; Alex Freytag of Profitworks; and Barbara Balog of Corporate Communications Services.

We especially want to thank Elizabeth Sugg, Leigh Ann Simms, and Tim Peyton of Prentice Hall who supported our vision for this book and helped bring it to the world. Jennifer Welsch of BookMasters, Inc., led our team to edit and polish our manuscript.

Of course, we could not possibly overlook our funny and furry office mates, Sonnie and Paulie Terminello. On days when we got much too serious, they kept us sane and made us laugh. On the home and office front, Rod Terminello provided loving support and grounded, professional advice. His unfailing faith in us has helped us turn our vision into a reality.

We are overjoyed to present the fruits of our collective labor.
