Chapter 7. Working with Styles and Templates > Using Conditional Formatting

Using Conditional Formatting

Before we leave the subject of styles and templates, another use of formatting that you may find useful in your spreadsheets is conditional formatting. This allows you to use formatting so that only the cells that contain values that meet a certain condition are actually formatted.

For example, you may have a quarterly report of the sales from the various regions in your company and you want to highlight values that you feel are extraordinary. You can use conditional formatting to construct a condition and then when a value meets the condition, it will be made to stand out in the sheet because of the formatting.
