Copying Cell Formats

There is actually a neat little trick that you can use to copy your formats from one cell to another cell or range of cells. It involves the use of the Copy command and the Paste Special command.

To Copy Cell Formats

1.
Select the cell that you wish to copy the format from.

2.
Click the Copy tool on the Object toolbar, or select Edit, then Copy.

3.
Select the cell or cell range that you will copy the format to.

4.
Select the Edit menu, then Paste Special. The Paste Special dialog box will appear.

5.
Clear all the checkboxes in the Paste Special dialog box except for the Formats checkbox (see Figure 3.15).

Figure 3.15. You can paste formats using the Paste Special dialog box.

6.
Click the OK button in the Paste Special dialog box.

7.
The formatting that you copied will be assigned to the cell or cells that you selected before using the Paste Special dialog box.
