Filling Cells Automatically

While not really an editing technique, the ability to automatically fill cells with data is a useful and time-saving trick that can help you decrease the possibility of data entry errors in your spreadsheets. We will discuss data series and how to use them (in greater detail) in the next chapter (in the section “Creating Data Series”). For now, let's take a look at a couple of quick uses of the automatic fill feature.

To Automatically Fill Cells

Let's say that you would like to assign employee or customer numbers to name entries that you have placed in a spreadsheet. Follow these steps:
