Appendix A. Calc Shortcut Keys

This appendix contains keys and key combinations that will help you quickly perform specific commands and functions within StarOffice Calc.

Keys Function
<Up Arrow> Up one cell.
<Down Arrow> Down one cell.
<Ctrl+Up Arrow> Go to the uppermost row of the range currently selected or go to the previous range. If a range does not exist, then goes to the first row (1).
<Ctrl+Down Arrow> Go to the last row of the current range or go to the next range. If a range does not exist, then go to the last row (32000).
<Right Arrow> Right one cell (respectively).
<Left Arrow> Left one cell (respectively).
<Ctrl+Right Arrow> Move to the last entry in a row before an empty column.
<Ctrl+Left Arrow> Move to the first column holding data immediately preceded (on the right) by an empty column.
<Page Up> Move up one screen (about 22 rows, depending on the row height).
<Page Down> Move down one screen (about 22 rows, depending on the row height).
<Ctrl+Page Up> Go to previous spreadsheet.
<Ctrl+Page Down> Go to next spreadsheet.
<Alt+Page Up> Scroll one screen page to the left.
<Alt+Page Down> Scroll one screen page to the right.
<Home> Move to the beginning of a row (when the row holds data).
<End> Move to the end of a row (when the row holds data).
<Ctrl+End> Position the cursor in the last cell containing data on the spreadsheet. For example, if the last row containing data is row 10 and the last column in which values are found is column F, the cursor will be positioned in cell F10.
<Ctrl+Home> Move to cell A1.
<Tab or Shift+Tab> Right or left one cell (respectively).
<F2> Toggle to Edit mode.
<F2+Ctrl> Open the Function AutoPilot.
<F3> Insert names.
<F3+Ctrl> Call up the Define Names dialog box.
<F4> Open the Beamer (current database).
<F4+Shift> Rearrange the relative/absolute references in the input field (A1, $A$1, $A1, A$1).
<F5> Open the Navigator.
<F5+Shift> Trace dependents.
<F6+Shift> Trace precedents.
<F7> Start spell checking.
<F7+Ctrl> Start the Thesaurus.
<F8> Additional selection on/off.
<F8+Shift> Extend selection on/off.
<F8+Ctrl> Use value highlighting.
<F9> Recalculate.
<F9+Ctrl> Update chart.
<F11> Open the Stylist.
<F11+Shift> Create template.
<F11+Shift+Ctrl> Update template.
<F12> Grouping on.
<F12+Ctrl> Grouping off.
<Ctrl+Shift+1> Insert two decimal places, thousands separator.
<Ctrl+Shift+2> Use standard exponential format.
<Ctrl+Shift+3> Use standard date format.
<Ctrl+Shift+4> Use standard currency format.
<Ctrl+Shift+5> Use standard percentage format (two decimal places).
<Ctrl+Shift+6> Use standard format.
<Shift+Alt+Enter> Use this to set completed entries into a selected range if the previous number format is incompatible with the new number format.
<Ctrl+*> (*) is the multiplication sign on the numeric ten-keypad; select the current area.
<Alt+Down Arrow> Increase height of current row.
<Alt+Up Arrow> Decrease height of current row.
<Alt+Right Arrow> Increase width of current column.
<Alt+Left Arrow> Decrease width of current column.
<Alt+Shift+Arrow Key> Set column width or row height to optimal width or height based on the contents of the current cell.
