Saving as SVG

To create SVG files from Illustrator, you use the Save As command. The Save As dialog box enables you to choose SVG or SVGZ, a compressed version of the already-small files. SVGZ is not supported by all browser plug-ins or all SVG Viewers; however, an embed tag can direct the browser to an uncompressed version of the file.

SVG Options

Whether you save a file as SVG or SVG Compressed (SVGZ), the same SVG Options dialog box opens. The basic options include the choice of linking or embedding fonts and images. Clicking the Advanced button opens a second dialog box, which offers additional control (see Figure 23.35).
