Transforming with Menu Commands

The Transform submenu contains eight commands—five that invoke transformations and three that control how any transformation works. The following sections cover the three control commands first, even though they're not found in this order in the menu.

Note

Although entering transformation settings in dialog boxes is useful when you need precision, it has one major disadvantage: You can't specify a point of origin other than the center (unless you're using the Transform Each command). Even if you specify one by choosing the appropriate tool and clicking the page, its position reverts to the object's or group's center as soon as you choose a Transform command.
