Chapter 2. The Illustrator Interface and... > A Quick Tour of the Illustrator Work...

A Quick Tour of the Illustrator Workplace

Whether Windows or Macintosh, the basic Illustrator interface is the same. It has a document window, in which the creative work is done, and floating palettes and menus, by means of which that work is done. Of course, you will discover some variations between the platforms, and Illustrator has many, many customization options. Individual palettes can be shown or hidden, the artwork can be viewed in different ways and sizes, and interface items and aides can be called upon when needed.

This chapter examines the basic interface first and then explores several specific aspects and options. You can find more details on Illustrator's interface in Chapter 16, “Customizing Illustrator.”
