Part: X Appendixes > The Edit Menu

The Edit Menu

The Edit menu holds commands that, for the most part, work with selected objects. The exceptions, commands that affect Illustrator in general, are Assign Profile (which works with an entire document) and Color Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts, and Preferences, all three of which affect the entire program, including documents not yet created or opened.

Undo

When you execute an “undo-able” command or action, Undo is available. It specifies what step will be reversed. For example, if your last completed action was the creation of a rectangle, the command would read “Undo Rectangle.” Although you can undo most of the creative process, you cannot reverse other actions, such as rearranging palettes, with this command.
