Final Thoughts

What's next? Open your HTML template in an HTML or text editor and go to work inserting hyperlinks and content, tweaking the code, and adding any code or features Illustrator can't. Ultimately you will want to upload the page(s) and its sliced graphics to your web server.

Rather than exporting to HTML from Illustrator, you could simply save the sliced AI file and, if you have GoLive CS2, bring it in as a Smart Illustrator object. GoLive would then generate the HTML and images—and enable more advanced features like inserting textual hyperlinks and creating rollover effects on the buttons so that they change appearance when the user's mouse hovers over them. See the GoLive topics in the Adobe Help Center.
