Planning the Projects

In planning to design a logo, there are many crucial questions and considerations.

The path you choose depends on your starting point. Do you have a sketch of reasonable quality on paper? If so, hand-tracing a scan of your sketch is a viable option. Depending on the complexity of your sketch, it might even be faster to forego the scan and start drawing. Is your starting point a rough pencil sketch or no sketch at all? In that case, beginning with type or just grabbing the Pen tool and drawing would be the way to go. Is your task not to design but to simply vectorize a raster image of a logo? There Live Trace could be extremely helpful, though trying to identify typefaces and fonts might be a faster kickoff depending on the logo itself.
