Back in the first version of Illustrator, the Status Bar changed on the fly to give you continuous feedback about the tools you were using. Why are we telling you this? A couple of reasons: First, it establishes fake credibility since no one can go back and check to see if this is true or if we just completely made it up. Second, we wanted to demonstrate the power of any statement that starts, “Back in the first version of Illustrator…” Got your attention, didn’t it? As a special bonus available only to you, the reader, we’re giving you the go-ahead to make claims about the original Illustrator. You just never know when it could come in handy. Hey, you may even want to go for it and use something like this: “Back when I used to copy artwork from Illustrator 88 into the original Photoshop…” You’ll thank us later.
