Lesson 1. FreeHand Basics > Drawing the Camera

Drawing the Camera

The best way to learn the tools in FreeHand is to use them to draw something. In this exercise, you will create a simple drawing of a camera that will be used in the logo for a fictitious company, called Action Photos. You will use the basic drawing tools—the Ellipse, Line, and Rectangle tools—to draw the camera. You’ll see that by combining simple shapes, you can draw complex objects, even if you think you can’t draw a straight line!

The camera you will draw is composed of several elements that need to be centered on each other. FreeHand provides alignment tools that you can use to align objects to each other, but in this exercise you will use the intersection of the guides on the page to center the objects as you draw them.
