Creating Master Pages

The ability to create multiple pages in FreeHand gives you tremendous flexibility in the documents you create. You’ve seen that you can create an entire corporate identity in just one document. When you want to create several pages in a document containing a similar layout, you can define a master page for those pages. A master page contains text or graphics elements that you want to appear on several pages. For example, if you want your logo to have the same size and placement on several pages in your document, you can place it on a master page. Then when you create new pages, the logo will appear automatically; you don’t need to import it or position it on each new page of your document. Also, if you later decide to change the color or the look of the logo, you just need to change the master page. All pages using that master page will automatically be updated with the new logo.

In the remainder of this lesson, you are going to be creating a slide show presentation, and you will create a master page for use with the slide show. In a subsequent task, you will create interactive buttons to move to the next page in the slide show, and you will place these on the master page as well.
