Lesson 6. Adding Special Effects > Using the Envelope Effects

Using the Envelope Effects

Envelopes are effects that you can add to objects or text blocks to change their shape. Actually, the envelope is a closed path that attaches to your object. When you modify the points of the envelope, the shape of the object distorts to match the changes in the envelope. FreeHand provides 21 envelopes you can use, or you can create your own.

Envelopes are fun to use, and you can use them to create shapes that would be difficult to draw manually. To see how envelope effects work, you will apply several effects to some objects and then modify the envelope points to distort the shape even more.
