Choosing Your Color Space

It used to be when you started Illustrator, you could just grab a tool and get to work. These days you first have to choose a color space. Simply stated, this means you are going to ask Illustrator to keep you always working in either RGB or CMYK color mode.

The choice of color space is the primary reason you have to choose File » New after you launch Illustrator 10. You have to choose the color space for a document before you can start work.
