Getting Around in Illustrator

Illustrator works a lot like other graphics programs. You can zoom in to take a closer look at a detail and out to view your illustration in its entirety. You also can scroll the illustration to bring different bits and pieces into view. And if you own an older, slower machine, you can view objects in a special wireframe mode that speeds screen display.

The next few sections explain how to get around quickly and expertly. If you don't know them already, pay special attention to the keyboard shortcuts. Using navigational shortcuts rather than selecting tools and commands expedites the artistic process more than any other single factor.
