Topsy-Turvy Type on a Curve

Illustrator lets you bind a line of text to a free-form path (as you can see in Figure 11.1). Adobe calls such a text object path text, but many folks call it type on a curve as well. First I'll be conventional and show you how to do this with the type tool dedicated to the proposition of type on a curve, but then I'll show you that you don't really even have to use that tool—it can be even easier.
