Joining Points and Paths

Enough duplicating already. It's time to do something different with all these paths we're making, starting with joining. Depending on the effect you're trying to achieve, a Pathfinder function, which I cover at the end of the chapter (see “Use a Path to Change a Path”) may be a better alternative than the semimanual procedures discussed below. But, in the spirit of learning the hard way first, if only to appreciate the new and improved version, here we go.

Illustrator's Join command lets you join two open paths to create one longer open path. Or you can connect two endpoints in a single open path to form a closed path.
