The Amazing World of Tabs

Technically, tabs are little more than variable width spaces. But really, they are so much more flexible and easier to use than spaces. By pressing the Tab key after entering a bullet or number, you can create hanging indents, as you saw back in Figure 10.14. By entering tabs between items in a list, you can create columns that align precisely. And (once you're set up properly) always with just one press of a button. Whenever you're tempted to use multiple spaces, press the Tab key instead.

There are really only two rules for using tabs.
