Putting the Pen Tool to Work

That was a whole lot of information crammed into a small amount of type— perhaps too much. To make things a little clearer for those of you who are still struggling with this amazing tool, here's your chance to try out the pen tool in the next three sections, in which we'll work on corner points, then smooth points, and finally cusps.

Drawing Free-Form Polygons

Clicking with the pen tool is a wonderful way to create straight-sided polygons. Unlike the shapes you draw with the regular polygon tool, pen tool polygons may be any shape or size. These are pistol-packin' polygons of the Wild West, with no laws to govern their behavior or physical form. I'm talking outlaw polygons, so be sure to take cover as you click.
