Aligning and Distributing Objects

Yes, of course, you're all quite capable of lining things up yourself, using any number of tools, including the naked eye. Or you can use the Align palette and feel like you've really got your money's worth. For you precision-loving folks, this one's for you.

To display the Align palette, choose Window » Align. Shown in Figure 8.6, this dainty little palette contains six Align Objects icons and six Distribute Objects icons. Three icons in each row let you align or distribute horizontally; three allow you to do the same vertically. Select the objects that you want to align or distribute, and then click an icon. Illustrator adjusts the objects immediately. For example, click the first icon in the top row to align the selected objects along their left edges, click the second icon to center the objects, and click the third icon to align the right edges.
