Creating Web Graphics

There really isn't much difference in Illustrator between creating Web graphics and graphics for print. All the tools are the same, and you still work in the same document window. The major differences have to do with colors and some preview options. And there are a few special controls you can add to graphics so that they do special things when they are posted on the Web.

Web Safe RGB Palette

As I mentioned when we looked at color in Chapter 14, Illustrator lets you pick colors using a special Web Safe RGB palette, shown in Figure 21.1. To use the palette, choose Web Safe RGB from the Color palette menu. This palette makes it easier for you to use the set of 216 colors common to both the Macintosh and Windows operating systems. These colors are often referred to as the Web-safe colors.
