Drawing Free-Form Paths

The tools we've discussed so far are all well and good. But Illustrator's true drawing power lies in its ability to define free-form lines and shapes. Such paths may be simple shapes such as zigzags or crescents, or they may be intricate polygons and naturalistic forms. It all depends on how well you can draw.

The pencil tool (fifth down on the right side of the toolbox) works much like a real pencil and lets you draw anything you want. Heck, the pencil cursor even looks like a pencil.
