Creating Simple Shapes

Illustrator offers six tools for creating rectangles, ellipses, and other basic, closed shapes. The default tool you see in the toolbox is the rectangle (fourth row from the top, on the right); the others are all alternatives in the same slot. You select them by clicking and holding on the rectangle tool slot, as shown in Figure 5.3. Now simply drag to the right until your tool of choice is highlighted.
