Making Backup Files

Because you've invested time in your drawings, CorelDraw provides ways for you to protect them from computer disasters, such as crashes, inadvertent deletions, and corrupted files. By setting the appropriate backup options, you can make automatic backups at regular intervals, as well as make a backup on each save. Either method enables you to restore the previous version of a drawing.

To set backup options:

1.
Choose Tools > Options or press .

The Options dialog box appears (Figure 2.12).

Figure 2.12. You can set global backup settings in the Workspace > Save section of the Options dialog box.

2.
Click the Save heading.

3.
To automatically create a backup of any open document at preset intervals, check Auto-backup every and specify the time interval (in minutes).

Click a radio button to indicate where the auto-backup files will be stored. Such backups are named AUTOBACKUP_OF_ file name.

4.
To create a backup file whenever you perform a Save, click the checkbox to Make backup on save.

These backups are automatically stored in the same folder as the original drawing and are named backup_of_file name.
