Installed Programs and Other Items

If you performed a Typical Installation, you installed CorelDraw 10, as well as the other primary CorelDraw 10 Graphics Suite programs and components (Figure A.2). Here's a brief rundown of the installed items, listed according to where you can find them on the Windows Start button menu:

  • CorelDraw 10. This drawing program is the subject of this book.

  • Corel Photo-Paint 10. Clean up and embellish scans, photos, and other bitmap images with this image-editing program.

  • Corel R.A.V.E. 1.0. Create object-based animations suitable for inclusion in Web pages with this new program.

  • CorelDraw 10 CD. Browse the contents of a currently inserted Corel CD-ROM disc.

  • CorelCity.com. Use your Web browser to view this Corel Internet portal site (Figure A.3).

  • Graphics Utilities folder (Figure A.4)

    • Corel Capture 10. Take snapshots of dialog boxes, menus, windows, and selected areas of the screen with this capture utility. It can also record onscreen actions as animations.

    • Corel Texture 10. Create textures (such as marble, stone, wood, and metal) that you can use as fills and backgrounds.

    • Corel Texture Batcher 10. Automate the creation of texture files in conjunction with Corel Texture 10.

    • CorelTrace 10. Trace bitmap artwork, photos, and scanned images and convert them into draw/vector objects.

    • Uninstall Thumbnail Display. Eliminate CorelDraw's ability to display file icons as thumbnails (tiny representations of the actual drawings).

  • Productivity Tools folder (Figure A.5)

    • Bitstream Font Navigator. Create font groups, view and print font samples, and install new fonts with this font management utility.

    • Bitstream Font Navigator Help. Get help for the Bitstream Font Navigator utility.

    • Corel Bar Code Wizard. Create bar codes in a variety of polular formats, such as ISBN and postal. The resulting bar code (Figure A.6) is copied to the Windows Clipboard as a graphic, letting you paste it into documents and then print it.

    • Duplexing Wizard. Print documents on both sides of the paper.

    • SB Profiler. Create a service bureau pro-file, enabling you or clients to manage the document-handling tasks associated with sending items to a service bureau.

  • Setup and Notes folder (Figure A.7)

    • Approved Service Bureau. Find an approved service bureau that can print your illustrations, brochures, and so on; requires a browser and an active Internet connection.

    • Corel Online Registration. Register your copy of CorelDraw 10 Graphics Suite; requires a browser and an active Internet connection.

    • Corel Setup Program. Launch the Corel Setup Wizard (Figure A.8) to install additional components or reinstall components that aren't working properly; requires Disc 1 to be in your CD-ROM drive.

    • Corel Uninstaller. Remove CorelDraw 10 Graphics Suite or selected components from your computer.

    • Technical Support Online. Get help using and troubleshooting CorelDraw 10 Graphics Suite; requires a browser and an active Internet connection.

    • Training and Certification Resources. Get help learning to use the CorelDraw 10 Graphics Suite with this list of books, classes, and so on; requires a browser and an active Internet connection.
