Chapter 8. Reshape > Corners and curves

Corners and curves

If you move an anchor point, the segments that are connected to it will reshape. If you move a curve segment, the connecting anchor points will remain stationary. If you move a straight line segment, connecting anchor points will move.

To move an anchor point or a segment:

1.
Choose the Direct-selection tool (A).

Note: You can move more than one point at a time, even points on different paths. To select them, Shift-click them individually or drag a marquee around them.

2.
Drag an anchor point , or drag the middle of a segment , or press an arrow key. You can use Smart Guides for precise positioning (Cmd-U/Ctrl-U).

  • Shift-drag to constrain the movement of an anchor point to a multiple of 45°.

  • If all the anchor points on a path are selected, you will not be able to move an individual point or segment. Deselect the object, then reselect an individual point.
