Chapter 25. Preferences

Chapter 25. Preferences

The first skill you will learn in this chapter is how to customize your startup file. Then, using the various panes in the Preferences dialog boxes, you will learn how to choose dozens of default command, tool, and palette settings for current and future documents—Constrain Angle, Use Area Select, Type Options, Units, Undos, Guides, Grid, Smart Guides, Slices, Scratch Disks, Hyphenation, Clipboard, etc.

You can create a custom CMYK and/or RGB startup file containing the colors, patterns, gradients, and document settings that you work with regularly so those elements will automatically be part of every new document.
