Chapter 26. Output/Export > Managing color

Managing color

Problems with color can creep up on you when various hardware devices and software packages you use treat color differently. For example, if you open a graphic in several different imaging programs and in a Web browser, the colors in your image might look completely different in each case. And none of those programs may match the color of the picture you originally scanned in on your scanner. Print out the image, and you will probably find that your results are different again. In some cases, you might find these differences slight and unobjectionable. But in other circumstances, such color changes can wreak havoc with your design and turn a project into a disaster.

Learn it now

Illustrator's new color management features will probably seem complex to you at first. But it's well worth the investment of time to learn about them because those features have been adopted by the latest versions of other Adobe programs, such as Photoshop.
