Chapter 26. Output/Export > Exporting files

Exporting files

Choose File > Save As to save another version of your file with a location, name, or file format. Or choose File > Save a Copy to save a copy of your file with the word “Copy” after the file name; your original file will remain as the open, active file on screen. Both commands also let you specify a new name, location, or file type: Illustrator 10, PDF, EPS, SVG, or SVG Compressed.

In order to open an Illustrator file in other graphics programs that won't recognize the Illustrator 10.0 file format, you may need to save it in an earlier Illustrator format. While you won't be able to preserve features that are new to Illustrator 10.0, in some situations this might be your only option.
