Chapter 11. Layers > Selecting objects

Selecting objects

We like to use the Layers palette to select paths or groups. Here we're talking about selecting for editing or reshaping—selection handles and all—not just activating, which we discussed on the previous two pages.

To select all the objects in a layer:

Click the selection area for a top-level layer or sublayer at the far right side of the Layers palette. A selection square will appear for every sublayer, group, and object on that layer; every object on the layer, regardless of its indent level, will become selected in the illustration window; and the target circle will also become selected for each item (it will become a double ring) .
