Chapter 2. How Illustrator Works > How it all stacks up

How it all stacks up

The Layers palette shows the complete stacking configuration of every top-level layer, sublayer, group, and object in an illustra-tion . The palette is used to select objects; target layers, groups, or objects for appearance changes; restack objects within the same layer; move or copy objects between layers; and turn lock, display, template, and print options on and off for individual layers, sublayers, groups, and objects.
