Chapter 9. Fill & Stroke > Changing colors

Changing colors

To select objects with the same paint attributes:

1.
Select an object whose paint or other attributes you want to change.

or

With no object selected, choose the attributes that you want to search for from the Swatches palette, the Color palette, or the Stroke palette.

Choose Select > Same > Fill & Stroke, Fill Color, Opacity, Stroke Color, or Stroke Weight to select objects with the same paint attributes as you chose in the previous step . All objects with those paint attributes will now be selected. A spot color in different tint percentages is treated as the same color.

3.
With the objects still selected, mix a new color using the Color palette.

or

Click a new swatch on the Swatches palette.

or

Choose a new Weight or other attributes from the Stroke palette.

  • To globally change a spot color or a global process color by replacing its swatch, see the next page.

Select same tint percentage

When Select Same Tint Percentage is checked in Edit > Preferences > General, the Select > Same > Fill Color and Stroke Color commands will select only colors that have the same tint percentage (spot color percentage) as the selected object.
