To scribble or tweak:

1.
Select a path object or objects.

2.
Choose Effect > Distort & Transform > Scribble & Tweak or Filter > Distort > Scribble & Tweak (it's on the top portion of the menu).

3.
Check Preview and move the dialog box out of the way, if necessary .

4.
Choose Horizontal and Vertical percentages to control how much anchor points can be moved in either direction.

5.
Click Relative to move points by per- centages of the size of the object or click Absolute to move points by a specific amount.

6.
Optional: Check Anchor Points if you want anchor points to move; check “In” Control Points to change the segments that extend to anchor points; check “Out” Control Points to change the segments that extend from anchor points. Or leave Anchor Points unchecked to preserve more of the object's original shape.

7.
Click OK . Corner points will automatically be converted into points with direction lines. How direction lines are moved depends on whether you chose either or both of the “In” or “Out” options.

  • The greater the number of anchor points on the path, the stronger the Scribble or Tweak. To intensify the result, apply Object > Path > Add Anchor Points one or more times before applying the filter or effect.

The Roughen filter makes an object look more hand-drawn by adding anchor points and then moving them.
