Effects and filters

Illustrator's effects and filters are used to apply distortion, texture, color adjustments, and various other artistic and stylistic “special effects” to objects and images. Many of the filters on the Filter menu have a matching counterpart under the Effect menu . In fact, the Filter and Effect menus are so interdependent, settings used for a command on one menu become the settings for its counterpart on the other menu.
