Chapter 12. Create Type > Copying type

Copying type

To copy or move type with or without its object, you can use the Clip board, a temporary storage area in memory. The Clipboard commands are Cut, Copy, and Paste. You could also use the drag-and-drop method to move a type object (see pages 259–260).

Italics into Photoshop

If you copy or drag-and-drop italic type characters from Illustrator into Photoshop, part of the rightmost character in some fonts may be cropped. To prevent this from happening, convert the characters into outlines before copying them.

To test whether an italic character will copy properly, select the character with any Type tool. Any portion of the character that extends beyond the highlight will be cropped.
