To insert a stop in an existing action:

1.
Put the Actions palette in List mode, and expand the action into which you want to insert a stop.

Click the command after which you want the stop to be inserted .

Choose Insert Stop from the Actions palette menu.

Type an instructional message in the Record Stop dialog box to tell the user which operations to perform during the stop. At the end of the message, tell the user to click the Play button on the Actions palette when they're ready to resume playback (e.g., “Click the Play button to resume”) .

5.
Optional: Check Allow Continue to permit the user to bypass the pause.

Click OK .

  • To insert a pause while you're recording an action, choose Insert Stop from the Actions palette menu, follow steps 4–6 on this page, then click the Play button to continue recording.

Figure 3. In this example of a pause dialog box, the user is instructed to press Stop, select two objects for blending, and then click the Play button on the Actions palette to resume the action playback. If the two objects are already selected, the user can click Continue instead of Stop.


In much the same manner as you would insert a menu command, you can record additional commands into an existing action.
