Chapter 26. RASTER IMAGES > Editing Raster Images

Editing Raster Images

You can use FreeHand to open the application, such as Macromedia Fireworks or Adobe Photoshop, that created the linked image. This lets you easily modify the image and update it in the FreeHand file.

To edit an image with an external application:

1.
Select the image you want to edit.

2.
Choose Edit > External Editor. A dialog box asks to confirm that you want to open an external application 17.

Figure 17. This dialog box asks you to confirm that you want to edit the image in another application.

3.
Click OK. This opens the image using the application specified in the Object preferences (see Appendix C).

TIP

If you have not specified an external editing application, a dialog box appears which asks you to choose an application. This application becomes the default until you change it in the Preferences dialog box.

4.
When you have completed your edits, save your changes in the external application.

5.
Return to your FreeHand document and click Done in the Editing in Progress dialog box to implement your changes or click Cancel to leave the graphic as it was 18.

Figure 18. The Editing in Progress dialog box lets you choose when you have finished editing a file in an external application.

TIP

You can also activate the external editing function by holding Opt/Alt key and double-clicking on a graphic.
