Chapter 12. LAYERS AND LAYERING

There were no computers when I started working in advertising. (Amazingly, we still managed to create artwork, logos, ads, and brochures even without any computers.) Instead, we pasted type and artwork on stiff mechanical boards that we sent to the printer to convert into printed materials.

If we needed to change the artwork, we would simply paste a new illustration or text on top of the old one. After a few weeks, we had many layers of paper on the board.
