Chapter 29. FLASH ANIMATIONS

Chapter 29. FLASH ANIMATIONS

One of the most exciting develop-ments in Web design has been the addition of Flash movies and Flash Web sites. Flash movies are much smaller than GIF animations which means they can run far longer than GIF files. They don’t even have to be movies, per se. Instead of playing all the frames of a movie at once, you can start and stop each frame one at a time. This makes the Flash movies behave like individual Web pages.

Unfortunately, Flash doesn’t have many of the sophisticated drawing tools that Macromedia FreeHand has. There’s no enveloping, no perspective, no power duplicating, and none of the special effect Xtras. So many Flash designers start by using FreeHand to layout their projects and then bring the files into Flash.
