Lesson 9. Two-Color Print Projects > Improving the image quality

Improving the image quality

Because this photograph was made using the available fluorescent Metro lights, the subjects are not well lit. The photo has an overall greenish cast, which makes it a good candidate for this duotone project. You’ll get rid of the greenish tones in the photograph and replace them with the duotone color.

The background is a bit too busy as well. The eye is drawn to the lights, which are the whitest point in the image. There’s also a distracting pole bisecting the image. As a result, the subjects are deemphasized and the photograph loses some of its impact. You’ll adjust the tonality of the image using Curves to lessen the distracting elements.
