Creating Web-based art

Now you will learn about issues with Web-based color and how to optimize images for Web art. The main objective in this workflow is to reuse and optimize source images for screen display. Using a color-managed workflow gives you the flexibility to make many uses of the original scans.

Color-managing Web-based art

In an ideal workflow, you would be able to reuse source images with embedded ICC profiles. Web browsers would then use color management technology to consistently display the colors across calibrated and characterized monitors all across the Web. Unfortunately this scenario is premature. Currently, only a handful of browsers such as Internet Explorer® 4.0 or later are able to read embedded ICC profiles and manage them.
