Lesson 7. Advanced Typography and Layout > Importing and styling text

Importing and styling text

You can easily tell a professionally designed piece from one done by a novice simply by looking at the typography. Do apostrophes and quotation marks appear as inch and foot marks, or as the correct curly quotes? Are ligatures used? Do large gaps appear in the word spacing of justified text? Is hanging punctuation used? Illustrator lets you address all of these issues and more—including specifying type to wrap around images for eye-catching typography.

In this part of the lesson, you’ll work on the body copy of the brochure, creating an initial drop cap and wrapping the copy around the drop cap and an image.
