Lesson 13. Printing Artwork and Producin... > Creating color separations

Creating color separations

To print color artwork on a printing press, you must first separate the composite art into its component colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, and any spot colors, if applicable. The process of breaking composite artwork into its component colors is called color separation.

You set separation options in the Separation Setup dialog box. It's important to note that before setting separation options, you need to discuss the specific requirements of your print job with your printing professional.
